Yes, and usually they are — someone has to give us access to the car. The inspector records what they find independently either way, and the written report goes to you, not to the seller.
Finance owing, written-off status and stolen status, with the search and certificate numbers printed in the report and the certificate attached as a downloadable document. It does not cover odometer accuracy — that's what the JPI Sentinel™ cross-check is for.

Then you've got what you paid for. The report separates what must be fixed for safety and roadworthiness from what's worth doing, each item costed as a range, and the inspector calls you to talk it through. Whether you renegotiate or walk away is your call — we don't advise on price. Common faults by make and model are written up under Car Problems.
If we miss a significant mechanical, safety or structural fault that was present at the inspection, we refund your inspection fee and pay up to $3,000 towards the repair, paid directly to the repairer. The car must be bought within 48 hours of the inspection, the claim raised within 14 days of the report, and the repair must cost more than $1,000, confirmed in writing by a licensed mechanic. Wear items, intermittent faults and anything needing disassembly or a hoist are excluded. Full terms are in clause 8.4 of our Terms and Conditions.
